Sunken Garden

Water, lilies and a lawn made for celebrations

One of the most photographed corners of Hope Gardens. Still water, tropical planting and a pristine lawn make it the estate's favourite place for weddings.

The Sunken Garden sits below the main lawn level, which gives it an unusual sense of shelter — the sound of the city fades and the water takes over.

Lily pools run the length of the space, edged with flowering beds that are replanted through the year by the Gardens' horticultural team.

It is the estate's most requested venue for weddings, receptions and photography, and rental income here directly funds planting elsewhere on the property.
